        AN  ACT  to  amend  the  civil  practice  law  and rules, in relation to
          personal service by mail
 
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
 
     1    Section  1.  Section  312-a  of  the  civil  practice law and rules is
     2  amended by adding a new subdivision (g) to read as follows:
     3    (g) Address of service. Service by mail pursuant to this section shall
     4  not be attempted or made to the defendant's place of  employment  unless
     5  after  due  diligence the defendant's home address for service cannot be
     6  ascertained.
     7    § 2. This act shall take effect on the first of January next  succeed-
     8  ing the date on which it shall have become a law.
