    AN ACT to amend the civil practice law and rules, in relation to limited
      liability of persons jointly liable with respect to  compensation  for
      injury  or damage caused by the intoxication of a person under the age
      of twenty-one years
      The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
      ______________________________________________________________________
    bly, do enact as follows:

 1    Section 1. Section 1602 of the civil practice law and rules is amended
 2  by adding a new subdivision 13 to read as follows:
 3    13.  not apply to any person who shall be injured in person, property,
      ______________________________________________________________________
 4  means of support or otherwise, by reason of the intoxication or  impair-
    ________________________________________________________________________
 5  ment of ability of any person under the age of twenty-one years, whether
    ________________________________________________________________________
 6  resulting  in his death or not. Such injured party shall have a right of
    ________________________________________________________________________
 7  action to recover actual damages against any person who knowingly causes
    ________________________________________________________________________
 8  such intoxication or impairment of ability by unlawfully  furnishing  to
    ________________________________________________________________________
 9  or unlawfully assisting in procuring alcoholic beverages for such person
    ________________________________________________________________________
10  with knowledge or reasonable cause to believe that such person was under
    ________________________________________________________________________
11  the age of twenty-one years in violation of section 11-100 of the gener-
    ________________________________________________________________________
12  al obligations law.

13     2. This act shall take effect immediately.
